Summerland is a tiny beach town of about 1,500 residents on the bluffs just south of Montecito, with a main street of antique shops, cafés and a laid-back feel.
Founded in the 1880s as a Spiritualist colony, Summerland today is a mix of historic beach cottages, contemporary homes stepping down the hillside, and a few larger estates in the hills above the freeway. Lillie Avenue is the small main street, home to the Summerland Beach Café and a row of interior design shops.
Lookout Park gives direct access to Summerland Beach, and the town sits between Montecito and Carpinteria, so buyers get the Montecito lifestyle at a meaningfully lower entry price.
